Some days are spent almost entirely in front of a screen.

Messages, meetings, notifications, work and appointments follow one another quickly. Then we pick up a fabric, a thread or a pair of scissors, and the rhythm changes.

A handmade activity asks for attention to what we are doing in that moment.

We are not talking about clinical therapy. We are talking about the much simpler pleasure of giving time to something concrete, creative and away from routine.

The Til Room creative space in Lugano, designed to slow down
A space designed to slow down, not to perform.

When your hands are busy, the rhythm changes too

Sewing, embroidering, weaving, decorating or transforming a fabric are activities made of small gestures.

You need to look.

Try.

Sometimes undo and start again.

You cannot do everything at once, and that may be exactly their value.

For a few hours there is no need to produce quickly, answer someone or reach a performance. There is simply a project in front of us.

You do not need to be “creative” to join a creative workshop

One of the most frequent objections to a handmade activity is: “I am not creative.”

A workshop is not an exam.

You do not need to know how to sew, and you do not need to arrive with a special talent.

A good activity is designed so that even someone starting from scratch can understand the steps, use the materials and arrive at a personal result.

The experience matters at least as much as the object you make.

When the hands work, the mind finds another rhythm.

Something different to do alone or together

A creative workshop can become a personal pause, and also a different way to spend time with friends, colleagues or family.

Making things around the same table naturally makes conversation easier.

You do not need to constantly find something to talk about: there is a shared activity, everyone works at their own pace, and the group takes shape on its own.

That is why workshops can also work for birthdays, small groups and company moments.

Til Room was born as a space where fabrics, threads, ideas and people can meet. The Create section holds the common thread of the activities.
