Kids birthday in Lugano: a party with a creative workshop

Organising a child's birthday can quickly become a small project of its own.

You need to find the space, think of an activity that involves the guests, manage cake and presents, and above all avoid long stretches when nobody quite knows what to do.

A birthday built around a creative workshop gives the party a natural rhythm.

First you make something together. Then come the candles, the cake and the presents.

Why choose a creative workshop for a birthday

One of the difficulties of children's parties is involving the whole group.

When a shared activity is offered, every guest has something to do and can contribute in their own way.

The workshop also creates a relatively structured moment inside the party without turning the day into a list of rules.

And at the end, each child can take home something concrete that remembers the experience.

How the party can be organised

A simple formula can include:

• Welcome. The children arrive and discover the space and the activity.
• Creative workshop. The group makes the project with materials prepared in advance and with a guide.
• Cake and candles. When the workshop ends, the rhythm changes and the more classic part of the party begins.
• Presents and goodbyes. The last minutes stay free for celebrating together.

This structure also helps parents, because it makes the afternoon easier to organise.

Which activity should you choose?

It depends mainly on the children's age.

A good project for a party should be simple enough to finish in the time available, but still leave room for personalisation.

Colours, fabrics, decorations and small objects to build work well because each participant can get a different result. If you are also interested in the educational side of making by hand, you can read about creative workshops for children.

Younger children may need a reference adult with them; for older ones you can choose activities with a stronger design component.
